"Hang John Brown" is a work of historical fiction which weaves the fictional story of a pro-slavery settler named Zephaniah Jacobs and his large family into the story of John Brown, the famous abolitionist. It is largely historical but takes interpretive journeys into Browns life and thinking. It is action packed and violent as was typical of the day in the western territories and the sugject matter of Brown, but the work has a distinctly literary style. 'Hang John Brown" is religious as it depicts the various positions on the subject of slavery and God and how it was seen in that day.
